Experience with neurodivergent care
My experience working with neurodivergent individuals spans educational, behavioral health, residential, and clinical settings. As a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), I have provided direct one-on-one support to children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, communication differences, developmental disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental needs. I have implemented individualized behavior support plans, supported communication and social skill development, collected behavioral data, and collaborated with BCBAs, educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and families to promote meaningful progress. Prior to my current role, I worked in special education and residential care settings where I supported individuals with diverse cognitive, behavioral, and developmental needs. These experiences strengthened my understanding of sensory differences, communication styles, executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation, and the importance of individualized supports. As a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I am further developing skills in person-centered counseling, multicultural competence, family systems, and evidence-based interventions. My approach is neurodiversity-affirming and client-centered. I believe in supporting individuals based on their strengths, goals, and preferences while respecting family values, limitations, and boundaries. I strive to build trusting relationships, promote autonomy and self-advocacy, and help clients develop skills that improve their quality of life in ways that are meaningful to them.
