Terms of Service

Safe Space Connect is an online marketplace connecting families with specialized sitters experienced in neurodivergent care. By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

You must be 18 years or older to use this Platform. You agree not to misrepresent your identity, qualifications, experience, or intentions. Safe Space Connect reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Safe Space Connect is a neutral technology platform that facilitates connections between families and independent sitters. We do not provide care services, employ sitters, or act as a staffing agency.

Sitters are independent individuals offering services directly to families. Any agreement for services is solely between the family and the sitter.

Safe Space Connect facilitates connections but is not responsible for the actions or omissions of any user. Families are solely responsible for evaluating, selecting, and supervising sitters.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Safe Space Connect shall not be liable for any incidents, injuries, losses, or damages arising from care arrangements made through the Platform.

Total liability cap: Our total liability to you is limited to fees paid to Safe Space Connect in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Families acknowledge that engaging in childcare, including care for children with special needs, involves inherent risks. By using the Platform to arrange care, families voluntarily assume all risks associated with selecting and working with a sitter found through Safe Space Connect.

All sitters are required to complete a background check through our third-party provider, Checkr, before their profile goes live. Background checks may include:

• Criminal history
• Sex offender registry search
• Other public records as permitted by law

A passing background check does not guarantee future behavior or suitability. Sitters have the right to dispute inaccurate results directly with Checkr.

Cost: The one-time background check fee is paid by the sitter and is non-refundable.

All bookings must be initiated and confirmed through the Safe Space Connect platform. Direct arrangements made outside the Platform are not covered by our safety policies, dispute resolution process, or payment protections.

How payment works: Families pay for each booking via Stripe Checkout at the time the booking is requested. Safe Space Connect retains a 15% platform fee on each booking; the remainder is paid out to the sitter through Stripe Connect on Stripe's standard payout schedule. Refunds, when applicable, follow the cancellation policy detailed in our pricing page.

No off-platform solicitation: Users agree not to solicit, arrange, or accept payment outside the Platform. Violations may result in account termination.

Family Cancellations

• More than 24 hours notice: No fee
• Less than 24 hours notice: Up to 50% cancellation fee
• Same-day or no-show: Up to 100% cancellation fee

Sitter Cancellations

Sitters must provide as much notice as possible for any cancellation. Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in account warnings, suspension, or removal from the platform. Documented emergencies may be waived at Safe Space Connect's discretion. Late arrivals and early session ends will be addressed on a case-by-case basis through the dispute resolution process.

We collect personal information, including name, email address, phone number, and general location, to facilitate connections on the Platform.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Approved sitter profile information (bio, photo, experience) is publicly visible. Family information is kept private and only shared with sitters in the context of a confirmed booking.

By listing on Safe Space Connect, sitters agree to:

• Provide accurate information about their identity, qualifications, and experience
• Maintain a valid, up-to-date background check
• Communicate professionally and promptly with families
• Honor confirmed bookings and provide advance notice when unable to do so
• Refrain from harmful, abusive, or discriminatory conduct
• Comply with all applicable laws, including mandatory reporting requirements
• Not solicit families to arrange care outside the Platform

By using Safe Space Connect to find care, families agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information about their child's needs, diagnoses, and behaviors
• Treat sitters with respect and professionalism at all times
• Honor confirmed bookings and comply with the cancellation policy
• Not solicit sitters to work outside the Platform
• Not share a sitter's personal contact information with third parties without the sitter's explicit consent

In the event of a dispute between a family and a sitter, both parties agree to first attempt direct resolution in good faith.

If direct resolution is unsuccessful, users may contact Safe Space Connect at info@safespacesitters.com to request informal mediation. Safe Space Connect is not obligated to resolve disputes, and any determinations made by Safe Space Connect are final.

Governing law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any legal action must be brought in the appropriate courts of the State of Florida.

Safe Space Connect reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to users via email.

Continued use of the Platform following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
